OUR CHRISTIAN COUNSELING PHILOSOPHY AND
HOW IT MAY DIFFER FROM OTHER COUNSELING SERVICES
Christian Counseling approaches human problems from the
perspective that only Christ can fully heal the deepest
hurts.
We address many of the same issues and use many of the same
methods used by traditional counselors such as psycho dynamic,
behavioral, cognitive, inner-child, socio-cultural, etc.,
depending on the particular situation.
Our goal is always the same, to help our clients find God's
peace of heart and mind for themselves as individuals, and then
to help them build a marriage that will bring personal
fulfillment, a good model for the children and glory to God.
We believe the Holy Spirit is really "The Counselor," and that
God uses human counselors to help individuals, hear for
themselves, the voice of the Holy Spirit. They are the "watchmen"
who open the gate so the sheep can hear the voice of the Good
Shepherd. (John 10:3)
We believe that personal happiness and fulfillment comes not
from pursuing one's own self-interests, but from pursuing God's
will for one's life. This can be discovered as one develops a
personal relationship with Christ as directed by Scripture and
realized through the Holy Spirit. The role of the Christian
Counselor is to be an instrument in the hand of God to help
facilitate this process.
DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
In order to define the issues needing attention we may use one
of several assessments that help define areas of strength as well
as areas needing focused attention. There is an additional cost
of $20 to $50 for each assessment, however, the results of these
assessments help to eliminate early discovery sessions thus
reducing the number of sessions required overall.
