"For in
Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any
value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself
through love."
-Galatians 5:6
Religion may have its mysteries for man
to ponder. Christianity does not. It couldn't be any plainer
"The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself
through love." That's it!
That's the essence of a personal
relationship with Christ: a love that grows out of a heart of
faith. Take all the religious arguments, all the attempts to
justify your position, and throw them in the trash if there is
no love. That is the true barometer of your Christianity "-faith expressing
itself through love." It doesn't matter how many Bible
verses you can recite, or how often you go to church, or how
well you can pray in public, even if you do pray in King James
English. The only thing that counts is faith expressing
itself through love.
Pick out that one person that you have
the most difficult time with. Very often, it's the one who
knows you the best, your spouse, and measure your faith by how
you express your love to that person. And I don't mean when
they are treating you with love; I mean when they are not!
Anyone can love when it's coming back. That's easy. I'm
talking about expressing your faith in love when it isn't
coming back. That's the real test of your faith. That's when
it takes the Spirit of God in you. How do you fare? First, you
must receive God's love for yourself. Then let it flow through
you into the lives of others. After all, that's the only thing
that counts!
Question For The Both of Us:
How do you see my faith expressing itself in love? How
do you think I can improve?
Prayer
For The Both of Us:
Lord, help us to express our faith with a love that is
divine and unconditional -Your love flowing through
us. |
