"This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit." -Matthew 1:18
Think about it. Jesus could have chosen to come into our world in so many different ways. He could have come from nowhere simply appearing out of the desert, maybe walking out of a burning bush like the one he used to talk to Moses from. He could have come down majestically out of the sky led by a brigade of heavenly chariots. But God chose to wait until Joseph betrothed Mary, and then He blessed that betrothal with the seed of the Savior of mankind. If marriage is that special to God, shouldn't it be special to us? The greatest gift we can give to our children this Christmas is the gift of a loving Mom and Dad who esteem highly the institution of marriage, and who demonstrate the love of Christ in holy matrimony. By the love we demonstrate one for another our children will know we are His disciples.
This Christmas let's give the gift of a renewed commitment to love as Christ loved us -selflessly, and to do whatever it takes to make our marriage all that God wants it to be. It won't cost you a penny, but it will cost all you have to deny yourself for the well being of another. That's what marriage is. It's not 50-50; it's 100-100! Is it impossible? You bet. That's why we serve a God of miracles who makes the impossible possible, beginning in our hearts.
Question For The Both of Us: How can we remind our children and effectively demonstrate that marriage and family is important to God, and it should also be important to all of us?
Prayer For The Both of Us: "Lord, let there be a rebirth in our hearts, and a renewed commitment to glorifying you in our personal lives and in our marriage this Christmas Season. Let our children see the miracle of Christ in us!
