Born to die --for you!
Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you..." -Luke 2:11
We have been blessed to be a part of so many miracles in the restoration of marriages and families. There's almost no greater feeling. Well, almost. The only thing that thrills our hearts more is when another soul enters into the Kingdom by receiving Christ into their hearts as Savior and Lord. Without the new birth any restoration or reconciliation is short lived. Eventually the self-centeredness will creep in again. The individual will again live for himself and experience misery here, only to be followed by an eternity in hell. That's the bottom line. A little religion just won't cut it. God isn't asking for much, just all you have.
Jesus was born for only one reason -to die. He was born to be the perfect sacrifice for you, so that you can live forever with God and others who have lived for Christ. It's been said before that if you were the only one who ever walked the face of the earth God still would have sent his only Son to die just for you. You see Christmas is all about God's wondrous love for you. To you a Savior has been born in the town of David. Jesus Christ came into this world, born in a stinking stable, mocked, ridiculed, tortured and executed, because of His love for you. Tell me, who else has done that for you? The reason I can lay down my life, my pride, and my self interests for my spouse is because I know that Jesus laid it all down for me. He chose not only to live for me, but also to die for me. In fact, he was born to die for me. That's why I will gladly live to serve Him. That's why I can entrust my own self-interests to Him. I know the one who knows me best loves me most. Today in the town of David a Savior was born for me -for you too, if you'll choose to live for him as your own Savior and Lord. It's the great gift exchange: your life for His. Believe me, his life is better!
QUESTION FOR BOTH OF US: Have we really received the gift of Christ? Are we born again, or just playing religion? Do we live a life that reflects the faith we profess?
PRAYER FOR BOTH OF US: Lord, we confess we have not lived for you, but we do accept and receive your gift of salvation. Jesus, come into our hearts, forgive our sin and take your place on the throne of our lives. We will live for you. Thank you for being born anew in our hearts today. Thank you for coming into our world only to die for us. Thank you for our new birth.
