NO STRIFE ZONE
Proverbs 18:6,7: A fool's lips bring him strife, and his
mouth invites a beating. A fool's mouth is his undoing, and his
lips are a snare to his soul.
Proverbs tell us that a fool’s lips bring him strife.
Well, if it brings him strife it must be coming from somewhere.
Where does strife come from? The pit of Hell. It is, in fact, The
Spirit of Strife that passes through our lips when we are not
ruled by the Holy Spirit, but by other spirits. The proverb tells
us it is a “snare” to our soul. Who is it that would
lay out a snare to souls? You got it –none other than
Satan, himself. The Spirit of Strife brings the undoing of an
individual, of a marriage, of a family. Yet, we cannot say,
“The Devil made me do it” for it is we who open our
mouths to allow the Spirit of Strife to go forth to do it’s
deadly deeds. We have the choice to forbid that spirit from
taking dominion over our souls and our relationships; God has the
power to subdue him. For whatever we bind on earth will be bound
in heaven, but we must exercise the self-control to forbid the
Spirit of Strife from taking over our lives and relationships.
Nothing good happens where the Spirit of Strife is in dominion,
and where the Spirit of Strife is lord, Jesus is not!
We are not each other’s enemy, but we do have an enemy
-The Spirit of Strife. Husbands and wives must join forces, close
ranks, and put aside any personal grievances they may have to
stand together against this enemy, or they will surely be
defeated by it. How can we defeat the Spirit of Strife? By not
reacting according to the flesh, but rather responding according
to the Holy Spirit. Set up a "NO STRIFE” zone in the house.
Put up signs if you have to. When you sense his presence call a
‘STRIFE ALERT!!” Do whatever it takes to protect your
home, your marriage, and your family against this spiritual
terrorist. You can do it; it’s your choice and His
power!
Question for the both of us: When do we notice
that the Spirit of Strife usually tries to take control of us?
How can we strategize together to forbid the Spirit of Strife
from taking over?
Prayer for Both of Us: Lord, help us to stand
together against this Spirit of Strife so that our children and
those who know us will see more of your Spirit in our marriage.
We confess we have allowed strife to be in dominion too often.
Forgive us Lord and grant us the power to exercise self-control.
Help us to be a man and a woman of honor rather than fools
dominated by strife. Proverbs 20:3: It is to a man's honor to
avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.
