"Again, I tell you that if two of you on
earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done
for you by my Father in heaven."
--Matthew 18:19
In the very
beginning God said it's not good for man to be alone.
Throughout the Bible we see a special power when two are
united. Yet, if we had to describe the problems we see in our
counseling office, in general, they all come down to feelings
of "aloneness." Husbands and wives, though married in some
cases for many years, feel very much alone. There is no
oneness, no "we"-ness. It's all about me.
Instead of being a team, husbands and wives have adopted a
mentality of radical individualism, so it's no wonder they
feel alone. Alone, God gave Adam the mission to tend a
garden. Together, with Eve he was commissioned to take
dominion over all the earth. And so it is today. Alone, we can
barely take care of ourselves. But two, working together in
mutual agreement can do anything God has called them to do. We
must purpose in our hearts to do nothing unless there is
mutual agreement. Let your struggle be to find that mutual
agreement before you move forward, and together, nothing will
be impossible for you.
Question For The Both of Us:
When do you tend to feel alone? What can I do to help you feel
like you have a team mate.
Prayer
for Both of Us:
Lord help us to give up our self-centeredness so that we will
work to find unity and oneness, so that together, we can take
dominion over all the powers that come against our marriage
and our
family.
